APW - Ball Waltham, Official RR Standard, 17J, 16S, heavy 14K gold original WCBCo (Webb C. Ball Co) marked OF case by Dubois Watch Case Co and also with marking for retailer Hayden W. Wheeler & Co, rear with initials, gold cuvette engraved "T.H. Saunders from Ida, Aug 12, 1906," white enamel SS dial, SW-LS, bull's-eye pattern nickel damascene, s#B202354. Gross weight of assembled watch 64.7 dwt (100.6 g). Comes with an associated fitted "The Webb C. Ball Co, Cleveland" marked box with leather exterior. An elegant Ball presentation watch with rare 14K gold Ball case, the "W.C.B. Co." marking within the case of this example is quite unusual and is something that we had not encountered before among the Ball marked gold cases we have previously handled.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, few micro-fine scratches, small surface spot at perimeter of balance cock, winding wheels with some small specks of oxide; dial with numerous scattered hls; excellent hands; case shows little wear, small nick to band at 5:30, no dents or dings, good engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows light wear with small ridge break; glass crystal with glue excess around its seat. Box shows light exterior wear and some scratches, some minor finish loss which is mostly at edges; interior is excellent with some typical light wear and soiling.
